Remote server management via IPMI / XCC

Introduction

IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) / XCC (XClarity Controller – Lenovo platforms) is a hardware management interface that allows access to the server regardless of the operating system.

This makes it possible to:

  • remote login to the server console (KVM),

  • restart and power management,

  • installation of the operating system,

  • troubleshooting issues (e.g. when SSH/RDP isn’t working).
